**Ted Sears in St. Martins
has a male red-bellied woodpecker that Dereck Sleep (a neighbour) and Ted
have been sharing for the last month or so. They have seen the bird almost
every day coming to a suet feeder and it has been joined by a female.
(Editor's note: The
reports of red-bellied woodpeckers would appear higher than normal this year.
They are a winter bird feeder treat. The editor is hoping one will find his
yard where everything a red-bellied woodpecker could wish for is waiting!)
**Shannon Inman collected
a mushroom growing under the cedars in their Harvey yard. Its appearance is
consistent with the shaggy parasol mushroom. The spore print, if that ID is correct, would
be pale cream in colour.
