**Norbert Dupuis captured an excellent photo of a cooperative sharp-shinned hawk scouting out his Memramcook East birdfeeder yard.

(Editor’s note: Norbert’s photo shows an adult bird which can be seen in the horizontal barring on the chest versus the vertical barring of the immature bird. The mature bird will have a red eye, whereas the juvenile bird will have a yellow eye.

Norbert’s photo also shows the complete dark crown and nape and the squared off tail tip to help distinguish it from a Cooper's hawk.)

**The white-tailed deer in New Brunswick may soon take on the title of “urban goats” that happen to enjoy birdfeeder yards. The herd (flock!) of deer that can appear at bird feeder yards, whether urban or rural, can be surprising.

John Massey shares a photo of the herd that patronizes his urban Dieppe feeder yard, severely stretching the bird food menu budget.

**The Nature Moncton meeting on Tuesday evening was an astounding success. Nature Moncton’s new president Cathy Simon efficiently dispensed with the required Annual General Meeting in a record 10 minutes and then on to an action-packed series of presentations from members that kept participants glued to their seats!

All thanks to Louise Nichols, Marbeth Wilson, Judy Cairns, Gordon Rattray, Fred Richards, and Brian Stone for providing a very memorable evening. The presentations were taped and will be available to share in the coming days.

New president Cathy Simon has provided the paragraph below to advise of the newly elected/and re-offering Board of Directors and thanking all those volunteers that made the past years so successful and memorable. Quoting:

"🌿 Congratulations to the 2026 Nature Moncton Board of Directors! 🌿
