**Judy Marsh forwards a photo of a DRYAD’S SADDLE MUSHROOM also called PHEASANT’S-BACK POLYPORE. It prefers to grow on living or dead deciduous woods such as Elm (where Judy found it) but also Maple, Willow, Poplar and Birch. The tender edges are reported as edible with a watermelon flavour and odour but have never personally tried them.

**Leon Gagnon forwards a photo of an adult BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE he took off Miscou on June 11 at Wilson's Pt. We don't see much of this GULL except in certain areas of NB where they breed in colonies such as Grand Anse, an Island off Grand Manan. Possibly this individual was from Bonaventure Island.

Leon is also been seeing groups of WHIMBRELS especially in July of a few to a dozen leading him to know where the best blueberry patches are.

**Kat Atkinson looked skyward on Monday night to photograph the moon as it was starting to become full.

**Brian Stone sends more action noted from the Hampton lagoon to include a nice photo of a fresh CLOUDED SULPHUR BUTTERFLY, a MUSKRAT, a BLACK DUCK enjoying the abundant duckweed, the expected TURKEY VULTURES around that lagoon, a LESSER YELLOWLEG and an intent GREAT BLUE HERON.

At Hanover Saint Saint John he could see BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER and SEMI PALMATED PLOVER that appeared to be in a similar stage as those Aldo Dorio noted. There were a lot of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS foraging near the Hampton lagoon on Wednesday.

**Aldo Dorio is noting SEMI-PALMATED PLOVERS in significant number at Hay Island at the moment. The ones he has photographed are suggestive of young-of-year birds by the nearly completely black bill, slight scaling on the underparts, however the legs are yellow which would expect to be darker in fresh juveniles.

** Ray Gauvin photographed a WHITE ADMIRAL BUTTERFLY [Amiral] on Sept. 02, nectaring. Note that it shows significant wear.

** Brian Stone shares some mushroom photos he took at Kejimkujic National Park last week. Most are quite common ones that we can expect to see after the predicted rains this week. The specimens include one of our several CORALS ... the FLY AGARIC which is a very common non-edible species, showing it just emerging and then emerged ... the Bolete, PAINTED SUILLUS, which is always found under White Pine ... one of the SCABER STALK Boletes ... the GEM-STUDDED PUFFBALL ... and the much less commonly seen RUSSELLS BOLETE.

** Brian also photographed a male RUDDY DUCK [Érismature rousse] at the Hampton Lagoon on Monday. It appears to be going into/ in, winter plumage. Brian had a good day at the Hampton Lagoon. He also got a few photos of a SOLITARY SANDPIPER [Chevalier solitaire] as well as a MONARCH BUTTERFLY [Monarque] that appears very fresh. Some interesting poses of an OSPREY [Balbuzard pêcheur], a close up of the bloom of the plant EYEBRIGHT, a cooperative male BELTED KINGFISHER [Martin-pêcheur d'Amérique] and a male WOOD DUCK [Canard branchu] in non-breeding plumage.

** Mac Wilmot came across a GREEN STINKBUG [Punaise verte] on a cluster of mountain-ash berries. The adult is indeed lime green, but the nymph stage, which he photographed, is very differently coloured from the adult and striking in colour, which will turn green as it approaches adulthood.

** Susan Linkletter reports that she is seeing the young of a presumed second nesting of BARN SWALLOWS [Hirondelle rustique]. Approximately a dozen, just learning to fly, were skimming her pond and honing their skills foraging for insects this weekend, .

** Brian Stone is back with us after a several-day visit to Kejimkujik National Park, in Nova Scotia. As could be expected he has many hundreds of beautiful nature pictures. We share ten of them today, including an EASTERN KINGBIRD [Tyran tritri], GREEN SNAKE [Couleuvre verte], GARTER SNAKE [Couleuvre rayée], HARBOUR SEALS [Phoque common], an adult male AMERICAN REDSTARTWARBLER [Paruline flamboyante], two profiles of a SHREW [musaraigne sp.] , a NORTHERN LEOPARD FROG and a PAINTED TURTLE [Tortue pointe], and more for tomorrow.

** A reminder that Sean Blaney will be doing a bioblitz of the Highlands Park in Salisbury, for the Salisbury Naturalists’ Club, starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night. All are welcome and it is suggested to park at the end of MacDonald Street. Note the time change to 6 p.m. from the original announcement.

** Also, a heads up on the Wednesday event at the Nature Conservancy of Canada's Interpretation Centre at Johnson’s Mills. That announcement is attached.

This coming Wednesday, September 6^th at 11am, people with an interest in shorebirds and conservation will gather at Nature Conservancy of Canada's interpretive centre at 2724 Route 935, Johnson's Mills, NB.

Please join us.

September 6th is World Shorebirds Day and closing day for our seasonal interpretive centre. We are taking this time to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Shepody Bay's designation as a Western Hemispheric Shorebird Reserve Network site and announcing the protection of 32 acres of critical migratory shorebird habitat at Len Buck Brook (3km east of the centre). This gathering will also provide an opportunity for everyone to see the beautiful friendship quilt we have on display as part of a Commission for Environmental Cooperation, "Connecting People through Shorebirds" initiative.

This informal event is open to the public and will start with a few remarks followed by a volunteer run BBQ 11:00 – 3:00pm.
