** Nice to hear of a flock of COMMON REDPOLLS [Sizerin flame] in town.
Georges Brun had a flock of approximately 40 foraging on the catkins of a Birch
tree in his Churchill St. yard.
** More nice Waxwing reports. Louise Richard spotted a flock of
approximately 25 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS [Jaseur boreal] in trees across from her home
bordering Jones Lake on Thursday that happen to have a very ample supply of
clinging winter fruit.
** Good to have Brian Stone back onboard after a bout of Christmas flu and
out photographing nature and sharing it. His visit to Mapleton Park on Thursday
captured some content DUCKS [Canards], an inquisitive MOURNING DOVE [Tourterelle
triste], and a BALD EAGLE [Pygargue à tête blanche] flew over.
** Now that January 2015 has arrived, it's time to be planning for the
Nature Moncton meeting on Tuesday night, January 20, which is "Members' Night,"
with the opportunity for members to share with the group short vignettes of
activities and events from 2014. The menu is very open and broad. We are a
group with lots of diverse interests and a lot to share. Presentations are
virtually any nature subject and usually run 15 minutes, plus or minus. Let
President John know of anything anyone will share, so he can co-ordinate the
evening's events at 384-7212 or email John at fosterjs@nb.sympatico.ca.
