** Susan Richards visited the Johnson's Mills shorebird site on Sunday
afternoon. There were approximately 200 peeps around the interpretation centre
and they got some photos of a flock. There will soon be lots more. These birds
are expected to be the advance guard of adult females. The photos are good
considering it was raining on Sunday. A SEAL [Phoque] tends to be popping up
frequently in front of the visitors' centre as bonus entertainment.
** There seems to be darn few reports of apparently healthy LITTLE BROWN
BATS [Petite chauve-souris brune] at nights this summer due to the White-nose
syndrome that has hit them so severely. Stephen Murray was pleased to see one
happily flying about lights at his MacDougall Settlement home on Sunday
night.
** Brian Stone shares several photos from a few nature sleuthing missions
over the past few days including BELTED WHITEFACE DRAGONFLY [Leucorrhine
apprivoisé], FOUR-SPOTTED SKIMMER DRAGONFLY [La quadrimaculée], NORTHERN
WHITE-FRINGED ORCHID, CALOPGON ORCHID, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT WARBLER [Paruline
masque], EYED BROWN BUTTERFLY [Satyre ocellé] and CLINTONIA BERRIES starting to
ripen.
