** Louise Nichols
captured some nice bird photos on Sunday. There was a flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS
[Jaseur d'Amérique] around the Sackville Waterfowl Park, and nice action around
Jolicure Lakes, where she got a nice comparison between male and female YELLOW
WARBLERS [Paruline jaune], a male COMMON YELLOWTHROAT [Paruline masquée],
a RED-EYED VIREO [Viréo aux yeux rouges] nicely showing how it gets its name,
and a male AMERICAN KESTREL [Crécerelle d’Amérique].
** It surely seems to be a great year for butterflies, moths, dragonflies and damselflies. Rose Albert, in New Horton, is enjoying two HUMMINGBIRD CLEARWING MOTHS [Sphinx colibri] around blooming lilacs.
** Aldo Dorio got a photo of a
NORTHERN PEARLY EYE [Satyre perlé] at Hay Island on Sunday. Aldo also got a
photo of a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER [Bécassin roux] there, still showing some
breeding plumage remnants. Aldo also got many of the tent-like structures that
the UGLY-NEST CATERPILLAR [Tordeuse du cerisier] is
building at the moment.
