**Rhonda Langelaan was
alerted to the calls of a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO [Coulicou à bec noir] on Saturday
morning. Paul went to check it out closer, to readily spot it in an area across
from 3903 Route 112 near his Second North River farm. Paul comments there were
lots of Caterpillar [Chenille] nests there that may be the attraction that could
keep it in that vicinity for a bit.
**Louise Nichols got
some nice photos of NORTHERN PINTAILS [Canard pilet] at the Arthur Street lagoon
in Memramcook on Thursday, as well as a RUDDY DUCK [Érismature rousse] still in
striking breeding plumage. Nice to be thinking of Ducks [Canard] again.
**Kerry Lee
Morris-Cormier, manager of the Johnson’s Mills Nature Conservancy Interpretive
Centre, reports there were 100,000+ Shorebirds [Oiseau de rivage] at the site on
Friday. The juveniles have arrived, and lots of adults are readying to head to
South America. PEREGRINE FALCON [Faucon pèlerin], BALD EAGLE
[Pygargue à tête blanche], BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS [Pluvier argenté], SEMIPALMATED
PLOVERS [Pluvier semipalmé], SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS [Bécasseau semipalmé], LEAST
SANDPIPERS [Bécasseau minuscule], and WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS [Bécasseau à
croupion blanc] are all being readily seen. It’s looking like it’ll be a great
weekend there, and Kerry Lee shares more photos of the activity.
Phone contact at the Centre is (506) 379-6347 or cell (902)
694-9157.
