**Julie Pellerin reports a GREAT EGRET [Grande Aigrette] is in the
Pointe-du-Chêne area. She saw it on Friday to the right of the roadway on the
beach area leading to the Pointe-du-Chêne Wharf. The area is very busy with
people at the moment, and it seems to be moving around a lot, but does seem to
be staying in the area.
**Dale Gaskin
comments on a dramatic decrease in RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD [Colibri à gorge
rubis] presence to his Dawson Settlement feeders in the past week. He was seeing
12-15 at a time before this past week, when the most he saw at one time was 4
individuals last week. Dale feels he’s a bit overly-blessed with Raptors
[Rapace]. Two SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS [Épervier brun] seem to be working his
property consistently, and even an immature PEREGRINE FALCON [Faucon
pèlerin] perched atop his barn roof one morning, staying for some
time. Dale also comments on noting VICEROY Butterflies
[Papillon Vice-roi] this past
week.
**Aldo Dorio got two photos of a SOLITARY SANDPIPER [Chevalier
solitaire] at Tabusintac on Friday. Note the spectacled look to the eye, with
the heavy white eye ring and the white supraloral area to give it that look.
Also note the greenish-tinged legs and spotting pattern on the back. The
medium-length bill is greyish with a darker tip area. Aldo also got a BELTED
KINGFISHER [Martin-pêcheur d'Amérique] and a KILLDEER [Pluvier kildir]
there.
