**Dale Gaskin advises as of 6pm on Tuesday his flock of EASTERN
BLUEBIRDS were staying around his 709 Dawson Settlement Rd. property as they did
when they arrived on Sunday. They are active around the woodpile, checking out
nest boxes on utility wires and enjoying the birdbath. Dale is very pleased to
see them back as he didn't see much of them around his property over the summer
as he usually does and comments folks are welcome to drop by for a potential
visit with the bluebirds.
**Brian Stone spotted and photographed a solar halo around the
sun at 12 noon on Tuesday. Brian comments it's the first one he has seen since
summer started and guesses this is a sign fall has begun.
The halo is caused by sunlight shining through ice crystals in
high altitude cirrus clouds. Anyone below these clouds can see the halo. Time of
day is insignificant but more are seen when the sun is lower and we notice
them.
When taking photos of the sun halo Brian cautions to use the
LCD screen and never look directly at the sun through the
viewfinder.
