**Lloyd Augustine got a photo of a SNOW GOOSE flying overhead with
a flock of CANADA GEESE on Tuesday in the Tabusintac area.
**Aldo Dorio also got nice photos of some immature SNOW GEESE
on the ground at Tabusintac. Aldo also photographed a lone SNOW BUNTING
recently and on Tuesday came across several at Malpac. Aldo also had a new
interesting new arrival at Malpac, a COMMON REDPOLL. The redpoll is beside one
of its favourite food sources of birch catkins.
Some have predicted a redpoll season to come as food resources
in the north are low.
**The couple who had the great day birding last Saturday was
David and Bonnie “Miller”, not Wright as appeared in yesterday's transcript. The
blog spot was promptly corrected.
**It may seem early to be talking about Christmas Bird Counts
but a calendar date to mark. Roger Leblanc, Nature MONCTON'S Christmas bird
count coordinator advises the Moncton Christmas bird count will take place on
Saturday, December 19.
**It was a pleasant surprise to have a female PILEATED
WOODPECKER visit our urban Moncton yard on Tuesday. It was foraging on grapes on
the vine. Am wondering if a pair may have our area as part of their territory as
heard one in the yard earlier this week and one came intermittently last winter
to the peanut butter bar.
Anne Marsch, in Lower Coverdale also comments that she had
PILEATED WOODPECKERS coming to her grapevine as well in the fall.
