** The  LARK SPARROW [Bruant à joues marron] that arrived to Jean-Paul and Stella LeBlanc’s Bouctouche feeder yard on Sunday was there feeding at 7:20 on Monday morning.  What a bonus it would be if it decided to stay at that site for the winter as often a few per winter do somewhere in NB.  Jean-Paul and Stella live at 268 Irving Blvd in Bouctouche and birders are welcome, but a call first at 743-6930 would be indicated to know if it’s still coming, where it favours, and any time schedule it follows.  The bird was there all day Monday and  Tuesday.

** More observation from Saturday’s field trip.  Brian Stone spotted and photographed a relatively rare cloud formation called a FALLSTREAK CLOUD, or Hole Punch Cloud.  There were at least 6 of these holes in the cloud noted.  These holes are formed when one section of the cloud freezes into ice crystals before the rest, and falls as streaks of ice crystals leaving a hole in the cloud behind.  Brian leaves the attached link that explains the phenomena more.

** With the appearance of snow this week in parts of NB it is surely time to get bird feeder yards in order and ready.  It’s a good time to all get together to compare notes, get some ideas and reminders at the Nature Moncton workshop on bird feeding scheduled for this coming Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4 at the Tankville School, 1665 Elmwood Dr, Moncton.  Early reports indicate we are in for a bonanza bird feeding winter.  Registration is encouraged for planning purposes.  Notice of the presentation is attached.
