** It's becoming the time of year when interesting caterpillars are
appearing. Clarence Cormier got a photo of what we suspect to be a LAUREL SPHINX
MOTH caterpillar on lilac foliage at his Grande-Digue site recently.
** Jamie and Karen Burris visited Cap Lumière on Tuesday to get some nice
photos in a series of an OSPREY [Balbuzard pêcheur] in a dive, a NORTHERN GANNET
[Fou de Bassan], LEAST SANDPIPERS [Bécasseau minuscule], BONAPARTE'S GULL
[Mouette de Bonaparte] in two differing plumages, COMMON EIDER [Eider à duvet],
and DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS [Cormoran à aigrettes] in the mature and juvenile
plumages.
** Aldo Dorio got a photo of a BROAD-WINGED HAWK [Petite Buse] juvenile
bird on Tuesday. Note the tear/ heart-shaped markings on the chest, typical of
the immature Broad-winged Hawk.
