** It's happening, the Blackbird advance guard is arriving. At 11:33 am on
Wednesday morning four COMMON GRACKLES [Quiscale bronzé] and
three male RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS [Carouge à épaulettes] arrived
to Doreen Rossiter's feeder yard in Alma. Doreen also commented that she has
noted several LADY BEETLES on the outside glass of windows facing south. The
temperature was 5 ° Celsius. This follows Red-winged Blackbirds that arrived at
John Innman's Mary's Point yard yesterday.
** Another indication of
potentially early migrants ... Georges Brun spotted 14 CANADA GEESE [Bernaches du Canada] on Wednesday morning from the
Trans Aqua outlet at the bend of the Petitcodiac River. Georges also took a
photo of the nearly full moon as it appeared at 5:53 pm. on Tuesday evening.
Galileo would have been impressed! As coincidence would have it I heard the
vocalization of Canada Geese going over our home at 7:30 pm. Wednesday evening
to wonder if they were the group that Georges had
seen.
