** Jamie Burris shares some nature photos he took over the past few weeks. They include the SIX-SPOTTED TIGER BEETLE, WHITE ADMIRAL BUTTERFLY [Amiral] and to add to our growing spider collection a different looking spider called the COBWEB SPIDER as confirmed by BugGuide. Some photos of Skipper butterflies took the expertise of Jim Edsall to decide their identity. It appears like it is a LONG DASH SKIPPER [Hespérie mystique] at the bottom of the photo trying to mate with a PECK’S SKIPPER [Hespérie de Peck] at the top of the photo. Promiscuity in nature!

** Brian Coyle photographed a few birds around his Lower Mountain Rd. home in the heat of Saturday morning to include a nice shot of an EASTERN KINGBIRD [Tyran tritri] that he comments nested somewhere near his home. Some young of the year WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS [Bruant à gorge blanche] were also moving about. Brian also includes a photo of the plant WATER PLANTAIN that grows in wet areas.

** Brian Stone visited the very popular nature observation spot Miner’s Marsh in Kentville, N.S. on Tuesday to find a colorful BANDED LONGHORN BEETLE, a SLENDER SPREADWING and BLUET DAMSELFLIES, a female RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD [Carouge à épaulettes], a group of WOOD DUCKS [Canard branchu], an uncooperative NORTHERN CARDINAL [Cardinal rouge], an EASTERN KINGBIRD [Tyran tritri] and a female BELTED KINGFISHER [Martin-pêcheur d'Amérique] seemingly not impressed with the impressive heat of the day.
