** Jane Leblanc got a photo of an insect that predated one of her Monarch Butterfly caterpillars. It appears to be a stink bug species but am awaiting confirmation from BugGuide

** Marguerite Windsor is doing a yeoman job of raising MONARCH BUTTERFLIES [Monarque] and releasing them which tremendously increases the chances that some of these that started from the egg in her Milkweed patch in Salisbury will overwinter in Mexico. She got photos of a male freshly emerged from its chrysalis. Note the dark spots on the hindwing that identify it as a male. This is number eleven to have hatched out for Marguerite and she still has fifteen in the chrysalis stage with one caterpillar left to yet go into the chrysalis stage. She comments that then her job will be done. Marguerite’s effort is a big job and takes lots of monitoring so all thanks to her on behalf of Mother Nature’s Monarch community.

** Brian stone, as expected, took photos while restricted to his back deck on Wednesday. A CABBAGE WHITE BUTTERFLY came by as did one of the colourful, hard to identify in photos as to species, MEADOWHAWK DRAGONFLIES. Sundogs were appearing in the skies, some just barely detectable but Brian put arrows in the photos to show them.
