**Shawn Cormier had two young WHITE-TAILED DEER [Chevreuil] come to his Elmwood Drive yard twice on Friday, with their mother watching them not far behind. He assumed them to be the two fawns that he photographed near there in early August, to make a nice comparison of youngsters growing up. Shawn also tried more with his photo artistry and freezing crystals, by photographing a frozen soap bubble at 1 ½ inches away with a macro lens. It’s incredible what today’s macro lenses can pick up.

**Jamie Burris noted three MALLARD DUCK [Canard colvert] flocks go over his Riverview home on Thursday. They appeared to be heading for potential open water in the former Naval Base pond in Riverview. Mallard Duck groups overwintering in the local urban area appear to be swelling in numbers.

**Brian Stone checked on the Mapleton Park (Gorge Road end) duck troupe again on Friday. The WOOD DUCK [Canard branchu] was back, and content. Brian noted two assumed BLACK DUCK [Canard noir] X MALLARD [Canard colvert] hybrids. One is very dark and does not show the curled Mallard tail that seems to be in all male Black Duck x Mallard hybrids. Even the bill suggests male and female markings. Am wondering if this may be a female hybrid. Any comments would be appreciated.
