** Leon Gagnon has been seeing 2 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS [Chevalier solitaire] near his Wilson Point site on Miscou Island recently. He saw them together and at other times only the one. Dorian left a lot of water in the marsh area and he saw at least 1 Solitary Sandpiper just before and after Dorian. He suspects that it may be one that weathered the storm. Dorian also washed up lobster traps on shore as well as lobsters themselves.
Leon shares 2 warbler photos. One is a drab YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER [Paruline à croupion jaune] while the other is an even more drab suspected young of the year female YELLOW WARBLER [Paruline jaune], with helpful comment requests from Gilles Belliveau.

** Clarence Cormier has had some lively activity from youngsters on Tuesday morning. 2 young of the year RED FOXES [Renard roux] were hunting in a wild flower section of his yard. One was successful in making those classic fox leaps to get 2 rodent prey as the other yawned somewhat less than interested. They eventually ended up playing and chasing one another about. On Wednesday morning 2 WHITE-TAILED DEER [Cerf de Virginie] appeared to check out his crab trees. The small one that was almost the size of the adult jumped up and down on the adult and ran around the yard as fast as it could while the larger assumed female adult was more focused on the apple cache. The smaller animal may have been a  year old that rejoined its mother which often happens this time of year.

** Kathy Popma shares an amusing photo sent to her by a friend of a DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT [Cormoran à aigrettes] and a GREAT BLUE HERON [Grand Héron] together, on a raft, enjoying the vista over Silver Lake at Sackville.

** There seems to be still lots of fresh looking butterflies on the wing. Jane Leblanc got 2 views of a PAINTED LADY BUTTERFLY [Belle dame] and a RED ADMIRAL BUTTERFLY [Vulcain], both enjoying the cultivar AUTUMN JOY SEDUM.

** Brian Stone just happened to be in Dartmouth N.S. visiting family as the fallout of birds from Dorian is blanketing the area. It looks like family got a back seat on Wednesday as he got 4 “lifers”, not including the MARBLED GODWIT [Barge marbrée] which he recently got at Riverview Marsh. Brian comments that he saw a 100 plus LAUGHING GULLS [Mouette atricille] and 200 plus BLACK SKIMMERS [Bec-en-ciseaux noir]. He also saw 2 ROYAL TERNS [Sterne royale] and at least 4 FORSTER'S TERNS [Sterne de Forster]. If that was not enough he was approximately 10 feet away from a Kentucky Warbler that refused to show itself for another lifer. A long list of more common species displayed themselves alongside the rarities as if to assert their resident status. Quite a spectacular bird event day.

** Marguerite Winsor has donated her yellow WOOLY BEAR CATERPILLAR plus its pot of Mums. It has moved up on to the petals of a bloom and I assume it is foraging on them, or about to. It seems to be getting darker which is to be expected.
I mentioned a few days ago that I suspected a lot of young of the year AMERICAN GOLDFINCH [Chardonneret jaune] at the feeders. I noted one that was begging from a parent on Wednesday and a video is attached. Take a look at the attached link.
