** “Piebald” is a form of albinism that
is occasionally seen it the White-tailed Deer. It is always special to see one
as each one is a unique, one-issue copy. Ted Currie had 4 WHITE-TAILED DEER
[Cerf de Virginie] drop by his Ammon Rd. yard on Wednesday morning with one of
them a very striking piebald animal. Ted got some nice photos of it traveling
with its kin. It must be a great winter for White-tailed Deer so far with the
low snow load making traveling and foraging easier as well as escaping Coyotes.
** Phil Riebel’s excellent photos on
his SmugMug photo site were easily accessible by clicking the posted link on
the member’s email list yesterday but for some reason were not on the BlogSpot
or the naturenb listserv. If you copy and paste the link into your search
engine it should open. If you didn’t get to see them give this a try as it is
an awesome set of photographs.
