**Daryl Doucet had a very special bird visit
his Moncton feeder yard on Sunday, a female EASTERN TOWHEE [Tohi à flancs
roux]. This
species has shown up in New Brunswick fairly regularly in winter for a long
time, but to my knowledge no breeding records in New Brunswick. Hopefully, it will appear on Christmas Bird
Count day on Saturday or if not, on count week.
**Audubon has put out a commentary to
explain the number of winter Finches called ‘This Winter’, marks an incredible
super flight of hungry winter birds.
Take a look at the attached link.

**Pat Gibbs has been watching the
tracks in the snow in her Moncton yard.
You have to look quick with the soft snow melting but Pat photographed
fresh RING-NECKED
PHEASANT [Faisan de Colchide]
trails to note the hind claw deviated.
If the substrate is firm you can really note the lumpiness of the large
foot pads of the Ring-Necked Pheasant.
**Linda Eaton was able to catch a video
of 4 very well-dressed male Pheasants cavorting about their Moncton yard and
feeders. Check out the action at the
link below.
