**Brian Stone drove along the
coast from Petit-Cap to Shediac on Wednesday and checked several spots along
the way for sea birds. At the Petit-Cap wharf he only saw a lone LONG-TAILED
DUCK swimming inside the breakwater. It dove and surfaced several times without
any obvious foraging success.
At the Rue. Niles wharf he photographed some
GULLS that were patrolling the shoreline and getting buffeted by the waves
rolling in.
At the Robichaud wharf there
were 3 HORNED GREBES near enough to the wharf for some decent photos. Also a
few RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were close to them and got photographed. (Editor’s
note: nice flight photos)
At other stops along the way
there were similar birds present but not in any large numbers close to the
wharves or shores. Binoculars could just barely make out larger groups far out
on the relatively calm waters but not well enough for any ID's.
