**Louise Richard photographed the large, beautiful Polyphemus Moth as it visited their Acadieville cabin getting it both spread eagle in open wing position and in its cryptic upright wing position. This large moth measures 100-150 mm and is on mating flights at the moment to end up with equally beautiful and large larval caterpillars to continue their seasonal mission.

It is a member of the giant silkworm moth group.

**When Louise Nichols, Brian Stone, and Nelson Poirier visited the Black Tern show at Missaquash Marsh, they noted that the white/light plumage area on the birds varied.

It was noticed visually and in the photos that some birds seemed to show more grey. A review of Cornell’s Birds of the World did not suggest any gender differences or plumage differences after the first year of life.

Louise Nichols attaches two photos of the Black Terns that she took on their favoured post. There does seem to be some difference in plumage colour to suggest variation unless lighting is a factor.

**Brian Stone sends a few more photos from Friday's outing in the Aulac area: a pair of mating Bluet Damselflies and one bright male specimen, one of the hundreds of male Dot-tailed Whiteface Dragonflies, a male Bobolink perching in the cattails, a Canadian Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly, and several Green Frogs from Louise Nichols's yard pond.

**A photo Brian Stone got recently of a family of Northern Pintails at a Memramcook lagoon that missed publication is added today.

** Bob Blake maintains almost daily weather statistics from his Second North River home and forwards a table comparing June 2022 with June 2023.

It is probably no surprise that June of 2023 had double the precipitation of 2022. It is also notable that morning temperatures in June 2022 were, in general, a bit higher than June 2023 yet the daily highs of June 2023 were, in some cases, higher than June 2022.
