Stone photographed a male Long-tailed Duck with prey in its bill at the
Petit-Cap Wharf a few days ago. After a few days of consultation, the prey in this
bill is still questionable. It almost appears like a processed fish fillet. Alyre
Chiasson commented it looked a bit like a Silver Hake, but it would be very
unusual for that species to be near shore at this time of year.
Summary
of the story… only the duck knows for sure, and even that may be questionable as
this species can be an opportunist with his menu!
On
the same day, Brian photographed a few Iceland Gulls that already been sent off for consultation, and tentative labeling is attached today.

Poirier was pleased to have a Lincoln’s Sparrow join the sparrow lineup
in his Moncton feeder yard at dusk on Tuesday. It is pleasant to have this
species of sparrow show up at a feeder yard as it can be so secretive and hard
to see in its usual habitat.
It
joins several American Tree Sparrows, several Dark-eyed Juncos, and at least
one White-throated Sparrow.
