**Norbert Dupuis shares two more of his eye candy bird
photographs of a male ring-necked pheasant, blue jay, and male
northern cardinal.
Later in the day, Norbert photographed a visiting flock
of evening grosbeaks and his male northern cardinal buddying up with an American
goldfinch.
** Gordon
Rattray enjoyed several smaller birds in his Weldon yard on Sunday. The American
tree sparrow (three individuals), one white-breasted nuthatch, one white-throated sparrow, six blue jays, and 30 dark-eyed juncos.
Gordon also had his other regulars; in total, Gordon has 15 different birds a
day.
**John Inman reports a juvenile cooper’s hawk arrived
early Sunday morning looking for a meal and allowed John to get some excellent
photos showing some significant cooper’s hawk ID features.
Note the partial crest on the crown, pale nape area,
juvenile vertical striping extending only part way down the chest, and outer
tail feathers being shorter than the central tail feathers.
**Many of us may pass up the moment of admiring a rock
pigeon; however, they sport beautiful plumage as well.
Lisa Morris took a moment to appreciate a rock pigeon on
her Centennial Park walk, displaying iridescent colours in the sun on a very
cold -15° morning.
