**As if the yellow-bellied sapsucker wasn't enough, on Saturday morning, Jane LeBlanc woke up to four yellow-rumped warblers in her St. Martins yard -- and as she was watching them, a northern flicker flew by for a documentary photo.

**Aldo Dorio noted the first few greater yellowlegs stopping at Hay Island on Saturday as they make their migratory route north of us to set up their summer cottages.

**Shannon Inman sends another photo of a cooperative ruffed grouse in their Harvey neighbourhood. She has noted several that have cooperated for photos more so than what this species usually does. Does it suggest last season went well for the species?

**David Lilly shares more photos from his bird photo collection, featuring male and female hooded mergansers.

(Editor’s note: The first-spring male hooded merganser looks a lot like the female but that lower yellow mandible is specific to the female gender.)

**Nelson Poirier came across a last season’s bird's nest, suspecting it to have been occupied by a cedar waxwing couple. The bowl was the correct size at about 60% American robin size, with old man’s beard lichen being a major component, typical of the cedar waxwing. It was in a hawthorn shrub, very likely intentional.

**Pat Gibbs did the rounds of the local watering holes on Friday and found a male green-winged teal behind Shopper's Drug Mart on Champlain across from the back of Champlain Mall.
