**Our three children on the summit of Assumption Place in Moncton are starting to look quite beautiful (well, almost), sporting their teenage plumage as they drop their natal fluff. It’s possibly just as well there is no sound as it appears they are screaming to their parents to bring food, and now!

**Bernice Johnstone found and photographed some beautiful yellow lady's slippers in an alkaline cedar swamp in Halcomb near Miramichi on Sunday.

They were in the area we had chosen for the Festival of Nature participants to visit and we were hoping they would be putting up a show but they decided to burst into bloom one week after the crowd had departed!

**Elaine Gallant advises that the common tern colony in Shediac has been abandoned. The platform is empty.

**Fred Dube found one of the cup mushrooms growing in a pile of old sawdust at the edge of their Lower Coverdale driveway, the palomino cup, aka recurved cup mushroom (Peziza repanda).

(Editor’s note: the cup mushrooms tend to be similar and variable as are some of the common names attributed to them, and there is even some disagreement on the scientific name.)

**Nelson Poirier maintains a woods trail camera that he can scrounge on any fish or mammal entrails. On Sunday morning, 12 turkey vultures found the booty and unknowingly let the trail camera do its job. When he went to check on it, all except two left the area. One went to a snag and was watching very carefully to see what new menu items might arrive, while the second one took the opportunity to sunbathe briefly.
