** Kathleen Spicer captured a photo of a pair of GOLDENEYES on a river near
Sackville, running through the Tantramar marsh in late January. The male would
appear to be a BARROW'S x COMMON GOLDENEYE hybrid while the female appears to be
a normal female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE.
> I'm going by memory but I think John Chardine got a similar photo in
the same area a year or so ago. Kathleen's photos are attached.#
** Georges Brun has noted a RED FOX the past few days trotting along the
banks of the Petitcodiac River on the Riverview side just east of Hall's Creek.
** I've kept a fruit tray out on top of the bird feeding enclosure for some
years. It has attracted ROBINS occasionally and NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS but never
a crowd. On noting it on Tuesday morning after being away all day Monday was
surprised to see the tray completely emptied so promptly refuelled it to have
the par takers return as a flock of approximately 40 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS descended
upon the tray in a freeding frenzy on Tuesday morning. Things happened so fast,
photos were hard to get.Smaller groups of 3-5 returned over the day Tuesday,
however they now know where the booty is so I'm hoping they return.
The tray contained mountain ash berries gathered in the fall, vine grapes,
pomegranate and banana. They were back at daylight on Wednesday in a mass troop
again and cleaned the tray in a few minutes
