April 24 2015

** Anne Marsch had a second YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER [Paruline à croupion jaune] come to her suet to her Lower Coverdale yard on Thursday.  She also had an influx of 10 PURPLE FINCH [Roselin pourpré], this time 6 of which were adult male.  On April 10th, Anne had 17 Purple Finch come to her yard, all of which were female or immature males.

** Janet Cormier got a great portrait of a SAVANNAH SPARROW [Bruant des prés] visiting her Salisbury Rd. yard on Thursday to remind us of the features of this sparrow species rejoining us that don't tend to come to feeder yards that often.  Yet it is a very common sparrow in fields and marsh areas.

** The AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS [Bruant hudsonien] do not seem to have made a move away from my urban yard as yet, the 8 to 10 that over-wintered.  They seem to be starting to feed on peanut butter more frequently and are trying to put the run to the few CHIPPING SPARROWS [Bruant familier] arriving.  They got along well with a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW [Bruant à gorge blanche] and two SONG SPARROWS [Bruant chanteur] that stayed the winter with them.
