** Louise Nichols paid a visit to the Sackville Waterfowl
Park on Saturday. She got photos of two different RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, a bird
species that has declined dramatically. She noted a small flock of blackbirds
foraging in the trees and on the ground. Louise was not sure just how many were
rusty blackbirds but for sure there was more than one. She also noted a pond on
York St. in Sackville with ducks present of interest on Tuesday morning. There
were two male and one female WOOD DUCKS and also a pair of AMERICAN WIGEON.
** TURKEY VULTURES are seemingly popping up everywhere. Mark Standring had
one recently perched in a dead tree in their Sackville backyard on Maple St.
that backs up against a wooded area to Charlotte St.
Louise Nichols also had reported two near their Crossman St. home in
Sackville recently.
** Janet Cormier captured a nice photo of a muskrat at work at Gray Brook
marsh on Monday as well as an adult BALD EAGLE that seems to like using a perch
site at civic #1910 on route 114.
** A photo of a GREAT BLUE HERON Linda Banks took a few days ago on the
Shediac River surely shows just how much snow still remains on some riverbanks.
