**Jamie
and Karen Burris caught the TIDAL BORE [Mascaret] as it was coming into
Hillsborough on Monday morning. There were several hundred GULLS [Goéland]
feeding as it flowed past them. Jamie comments it was a captivating sight to
see. They also noted a pair of NORTHERN PINTAILS [Canard pilet] on the pond
beside the train station. Note the bright blue bill on the male in Jamie’s photo
of the pair. Jamie also comments there were a dozen RING-NECKED DUCKS [Fuligule
à collier] at the Gray Brook Marsh pond last Friday.
**The
beautiful song of the SONG SPARROW [Bruant chanteur] is starting to be a very
common sound filling the spring air. Georges Brun came across two males loudly
singing near Château Moncton on Monday afternoon. One is a sharply-dressed
individual. The other seems to be having a bad hair day but the vocal cords were
working fine.
**Aldo
Dorio spotted a flock of SNOW BUNTINGS [Plectrophane des neiges] in the Hay
Island area on Monday. From the look of the amount of snow on the road into Hay
Island, they may be feeling right at home.
