**There
were many very significant tides in New Brunswick on Thursday and Friday. Judy
Marsh got a photo of the Petitcodiac River at high tide at 2:00 pm looking
towards Château Moncton.
**Georges
Brun observed an adult BALD EAGLE [Pygargue à tête blanche] in the Bald Eagles’
nest at the end of Crowley Farm Road on Friday, suggesting incubation in
progress, with the male perched next to the north branch of Hall’s Creek. Also,
Georges noted an area along Crowley Farm Road where BEAVERS [Castor] had been
active, between the ball field and the City of Moncton pumping station. Georges
also shows the high water level in Hall’s Creek at approximately 3:00 on
Friday.
**It
really has been a different winter for PINE SISKIN [Tarin des pins] feeder yard
visits, from last year. Several feeder yards are having flocks of Pine Siskin
visiting at the moment. Marlene Hickman was another that had them first arrive
to her Dorchester feeder yard on Friday morning, and noting that they get quite
feisty with some of the other patrons, especially PURPLE FINCH [Roselin pourpré]
that have recently arrived. Marlene also comments she is noting stray solitary
visitors this week, such as one NORTHERN FLICKER [Pic flamboyant], one EVENING
GROSBEAK [Gros-bec errant], one RED-TAILED HAWK [Buse à queue rousse]. She’s
noting lots of other birds doing beautiful flight ballets in pairs, to suggest
either mating rituals in progress or territorial discussions.
