**   Georges Brun found it a great day for observing animal tracks on the Dieppe Marsh after the fresh snowfall on Saturday. He noted a WEASEL [hermine/belette] and other animal tracks and trails, which are difficult to identify from a photo, not knowing the stride (the distance between them) and the straddle (the distance from side to side). A perfect tool for measuring that is a small pocket tape, which is included in the photos. Georges says that small rodent tracks seem to be at a minimum compared to other years at that site. Georges also noted approximately 300 ducks, very predominantly MALLARDS [Canard colvert], in the stream outlet by the west Main Street traffic circle.

**  Mac Wilmot noted a RED FOX [Renard roux] around the visitor centre at Cape Jourimain on Friday evening. Mac suspects it may be very used to people, possibly being fed. It approached within 4 feet. Darkness did not allow for a photo. He says that it appeared in very good health.

**  Brian Stone is visiting family near Hampton and mentions a very active feeder yard that has been hosting at least 24 EVENING GROSBEAKS [Gros-bec errant] since December 10. It’s been a good year for an increased number of Evening Grobseaks at feeders. Brian also got a great photo of HAIRY WOODPECKER [Pic chevelu] and DOWNY WOODPECKER [Pic mineur] males together at the same suet block for a good comparison of these two woodpeckers.

They made a run to look for the COMMON SHELDUCKS [Tadorne] but did not see them at their former site, as seems to have been the case the past two weeks. The Hampton lagoons were quiet when they visited, with only MALLARDS [Canard colvert] and GULLS [goĆ©lands] noted.
