** Another pleasant Monarch Butterfly report. Myron Kelly spotted a female
MONARCH BUTTERFLY [Monarque] laying eggs on Common Milkweed on Wednesday, just
off the Squash Rd.
** Gordon Rattray photographed a NORTHERN PEARLY-EYE BUTTERFLY. Also a HARRIS'S CHECKERSPOT BUTTERFLY [Damier de Harris] showing its hind
wing, and a WHITE ADMIRAL [Amiral] from over and under, plus a PECK’S SKIPPER
BUTTERFLY. Gordon also got a photo of one of our several ICHNEUMON WASP species.
** An attached moth photo
that has been photographed several times by observers but was just able to get
an identification from Jim Edsall is a TOOTHED SOMBERWING MOTH. It is a common
day-flying moth often seen in boggy areas and marshes.
