** Dale Halfpenny got a photo of two juvenile PEREGRINE FALCONS [Faucon pèlerin] at Fundy National Park late last week looking like maiden flights will be happening soon if some have not started already.

** Gordon Rattray photographed a recently fledged KILLDEER [Pluvier kildir] chick. The adults had their nest on the Hillsborough baseball field and two chicks were fledged. When Killdeer chicks hatch they leave the simple scrape nest immediately. Gordon also got a photo of an AZURE BUTTERFLY.  We always have identified Azures as Spring, Summer, or Cherry Gall Azures, but some today feel that they may not actually be different species, hence the use of just "Azure" for the time being.

** Lisa Morris comments on an AZURE BUTTERFLY that very much did not want to cooperate for a photo until patience led it to a nice still photo on a Daisy. Azures always seem to be on a mission when it comes to photographs.

** Aldo Dorio got a photo of a very content, sub-adult BALD EAGLE [Pygargue à tête blanche] with its roadkill prize on Monday, performing its sanitary engineer role. Aldo also got a close up photo of a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO [Coulicou à bec noir] which struck a window. The bird flew off shortly after seeming to be ok. Aldo also got photos of the day flying moth VIRGINIA CTENUCHA and a GREEN MARVEL MOTH.

** I'm attaching a photo of one of the FISHFLY species that came to my moth light Sunday night. These are large insects that are now on mating flights and spend most of their life cycle under water. They have four large veined wings. I had a photo of the split open wings, however gremlins got the photo on its way to the photo line-up!
I neglected to add the photo of the Canola plant flower cluster in yesterday's edition. It has been attached today.
