** It is hard to get enough of GRAY JAYS [Mésangeai du
Canada]. More photos of them seem to be popping up lately. Aldo Dorio
photographed one out in the open on a utility pole in Tabusintac on Monday. Gray
Jays are no doubt incubating eggs at the moment on their
nests.
** Brian Stone used the pleasant warm sun of Monday to
drop by Mapleton Park. The RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES
[Sittelle à poitrine rousse] were active to give some nice photo ops. Red-breasted
Nuthatches do seem to be having a good year. The cock RING-NECKED PHEASANTS [Faisan de Colchide]
were showing their brightest spring finery
and an AMERICAN CROW [Corneille
d'Amérique] was actively gathering nesting material. Their Raven kin are already
on their nests, incubating their egg cargo. A welcome sight of the day was
melting icicles.
