**As
announced on yesterday’s edition, the Nature Moncton visit to the
Atlantic Wildlife Institute has been postponed from tomorrow until
next Sunday, November 4th, due to weather predictions for tomorrow.
**David
Myles reports a TUFTED TITMOUSE [Mésange bicolore] was seen
on Thursday at a feeder in Prince
William in mid-afternoon. The number of Tufted
Titmouses being reported from various locations in New
Brunswick is interesting. Could it be that this little specialty is
gradually moving into New Brunswick more seriously? Keep a close eye
on those BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES [Mésange à tête noire] in your
feeder yards.
**For
plant interests: there were a few plants growing shoreline on a
pebble beach on Crooked Creek during the Caledonia Gorge field trip
on October 21st that none of us could put a handle on. Sean Blaney
reviewed the photos and identified them as ROUGH CINQUEFOIL
[Potentille de Montpellier] and HEAL-ALL [Herbe au charpentier]. Some
photos are attached.
**I
came across two NORTHERN HARRIERS [Busard Saint-Martin] on the hunt
on Friday. One was where you’d expect to see one, on the Shepody
Marsh, but the other was a bit of a surprise. It was on a creek near
Cape Enrage at low tide, and some GREATER YELLOWLEGS [Grand
Chevalier] started making a very vocal ruckus. The cause was soon
spotted, as a Northern Harrier swooped down on them and some other
shorebirds that used the Yellowlegs as the sirens, to seemingly
easily make their escape.
