**There would seem to be a rather sudden number of SNOWY OWL [Harfang des neiges] sightings in the Cocagne area in recent days. Jean-Paul and Stella LeBlanc spotted a very darkly-barred individual on Chemin Martin in the Cocagne area. We’ve always held the idea that more heavily-barred individuals were either younger birds or females, while more pure white individuals were adult males. Some recent work out of the population that tends to be in Saskatchewan suggests that may not be as reliable as we once thought.

**A further reason why CROWS [Corneille] harass some raptors: I spotted an immature EAGLE [Pygargue à tête blanche] fly over our Moncton home with a good-sized black bird in its talons on Friday morning. It was soon followed by a group of very upset Crows. I’m not sure whether the Eagle dropped its prey or not, as it started circling and did so for several minutes in the area, with Crows hot on its talons.

**Also, a light moment to share: being an avid fisherman and bird feeder, one Christmas present Santa left was a bird feeder in the shape of a bass. It is now filled with mid-cut sunflower chips, and has met with the approval of several regular patrons.
