** We
seem to have had a surprising number of NORTHERN CARDINAL [Cardinal rouge]
visits to the area a month ago, but many did not seem to stay. Maybe they all
headed to Sussex. Colin Pyette noted two male Cardinals in his Sussex yard on
Tuesday and stopped to look around for a female and found her all right along
with four more male Cardinals to make an precedented seven Northern Cardinals
in his yard area at one time.
**
There are more SHARP-SHINNED HAWK [Épervier brun] photos showing up recently.
Jane LeBlanc had one drop by her St. Martin's yard on Tuesday. It is an
immature bird as indicated by the vertical chest stripping and the yellow eye.
The flared tail nicely shows the banding arrangement in Jane's photo.
