** Richard Blacquiere reports there were at least 4 young-of-the-year TURKEY VULTURES [Urubu à tête rouge] present at the Hampton lagoon on Friday morning, August 28th, sunbathing with their senior kin.  These were the first that Richard has seen this year, and he monitors that area closely.  Last year, Richard saw the first young-of-the-year Turkey Vultures at the same site on August 26th, so a close time frame.

** Jane LeBlanc got a very close-up zoomed-in photo of a RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD [Colibri à gorge rubis] at her St. Martins feeder.  The patrons of the moment are normally the young-of-the-year and females, but some reports are saying that males are staying longer than normally expected this year.  Suzanne Rousseau in Sussex is yet another to comment on Yolande LeBlanc’s male hummingbird presence.  She also has a male still present with a female coming with it.

** Aldo Dorio got a photo of a brilliant male WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL [Bec-croisé bifascié] atop a spruce tree which seem to be this species’ popular spot to survey its surroundings.  He also got a selection of GREATER YELLOWLEGS [Grand Chevalier] and SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS [Bécassin roux].  We tried to make one into a possible Stilt Sandpiper, but couldn’t get it by Gilles Belliveau’s thorough scrutiny!

** Brian Stone returns Yolande’s comments on late male RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS [Colibri à gorge rubis] with a photo from his hummer feeder.  Brian is getting a male and a female in attendance, and a BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE [Mésange à tête noire] is enjoying sipping the water in the hummingbird feeder moat.
