**The Snow Bunting are arriving in  number at the moment. Aldo Dorio spotted a group of 20 at Hay Island on Friday.

**Ed and Jane LeBlanc did a walk around their St. Martins property on Friday, Dec. 17th, since it was such a mild day. Ed had bushwhacked a path along the river and they hadn't been that way for a while. They found the Mosher River running high and fast...no surprise, and lots of blown down trees. No birds, but still quite windy. They did spot a Witches Butter Mushroom growing about eye level on a dead branch.

**I had a note from Kathie Carter at 84 Ellerdale Ave. in Moncton on Friday afternoon that she was seeing a bird intermittently coming to her feeder that she was not sure about. I made a run over and by sheer luck the bird did come and stay long enough for photos from the vehicle. It turned out to be a female Western Tanager, a very pleasant surprise!

I alerted Brian Stone who was able to get there while there was still light to get some great photos.

Kathie is okay with folks who may want to see this bird but asks that people stay in their vehicles and not go on into anyone’s property to maintain neighbourhood relationships.

The bird can be readily seen from the street, but it is necessary to park between her house and the neighbour to be able to view a flat green hanging feeder that is in between a tree in her house. The area to view it well is relatively small but can be seen well at that spot.

Kathie has a feeder watch form ready to be filled out for the Nature Moncton Christmas bird count today in hopes it will get tallied.

Am attaching an overload of photos to enjoy this visitor far from his Western North America home.

**Brian Stone noticed some recent BEAVER activity at Highland Park on Friday with a large birch tree having been chewed down beside the trail and a large lodge constructed in the small pond on the left just past the viewing platform. He also photographed a bright RAINBOW outside the Superstore during a brief but heavy shower.
