**David and Anita Cannon had a Bobcat stroll through their Ammon Road back yard late Wednesday morning.
David took
a documentary photo of it as it headed back towards the woods from their lawn.
As
mentioned before, it’s that time of year when the teenage Bobcats have been
abruptly sent to fend for themselves and find their own food which can mean
they can be seen during the day around human dwellings quite hungry.
**Georges
Brun saw a pair of Northern Cardinals around his Churchill St., Moncton home
in September 2021. He is suspecting it may be the same pair that was back just
behind his home in his small urban forest on Wednesday. Georges was able to get
beautiful portraits of them through his window.
It’s great
to hear a pair is there and hopefully we will hear and see lots more of them as
the season progresses.
What a
backyard treat for Moncton!
**I put out
some berries to interest the local robins, a bit more strategically placed to
avoid marauding starlings. It worked well and an American Robin very
quickly found them. In fact, it found the bootie so choice that it spent the rest of
the day perched on guard when it was not eating and chased away any interloper robin that came near! All other patrons seem to be allowed to come as
close as they wished as long as it was not another robin.
It's back on duty Thursday morning!
