**Catherine Hamilton reports the blackbirds arrived to her yard in Petitcodiac on Saturday with a
huge flock of Common Grackles and Red- Winged Blackbirds estimated at
approximately 60. Catherine comments she does not remember
seeing them this early before. Her yard is full of American Goldfinch, Black-capped Chickadees, Blue Jays, Pine Siskins, Mourning Doves and she still has a few Evening
Grosbeaks coming in. (Editors note: usually the adult male
Red-winged-blackbirds arrive ahead of the 1st spring females; however,
this year photos are showing a blend.)
**The
Nature Moncton website at www.naturemoncton.com has a buy
and sell section on the homepage. At the moment, there is a big variety of camera
equipment for sale for those who wish to upgrade. Go to the website
highlighted above and click on Buy and Sell and the list will pop up for
one to peruse. This site is free for members to use. If you have something for
sale or would like to purchase something nature related, contact webmaster
Brian Stone at bjpstone@gmail.com
**Bob Blake got a surprise to see 3 Turkeys walk through the woods
behind their 2nd North River home on Sunday.
In his recent presentation, Jim Wilson advised it would be very unlikely for truly Wild
Turkeys to be seen in New Brunswick outside of Charlotte County and other counties
bordering Maine at this time. However, there is slow range expansion. It would
be assumed these 3 birds are released feral escapees which still make for a
very pleasant observation seeing them travelling in the wild.
