**David and
Elizabeth Eagles have had a Song Sparrow build
a nest in their Clematis by their front door and as they comment has remained
very camouflaged!!
**Gordon Rattray walked a trail in Dawson Settlement on Saturday looking
for flowers and shrubs in flower. Gordon found that spring bloom was in
full production, and he includes many pictures of his walk. Blue-Eyed
Grass was along the entrance to the trail as were Wild
Lily-of-the-valley and the escapee European cultivar. Along the trail were many
more, Bunchberry, Sarsaparilla, Starflower, Buttercup and of interest as
a new plant the Blunt-Leaved Sandwort aka Grove Sandwort. In a clearing along the
trail Gordon found Red-berried Elder, and Chokecherry in
blossom. In wetter areas along the way Gordon found Interrupted Fern, Silvery
Glade Fern (suspected) and Spinulose Wood Fern.
**Yolande LeBlanc in
Memramcook is hearing 2 different male Northern Cardinals singing again
this year but doesn’t see the females very much, so suspects they are on the
nests. The males are on different sides of the road again, just like last year.
The males come to get food every day, pretty much all day.
Great to
hear Yolande!
