**Gordon Rattray and Nelson
Poirier represented Nature Moncton at the Investiture Ceremony for David
Christie receiving the Order of New Brunswick at the Albert County
Museum Community Hall in Hopewell Cape on Friday.
David also received the Queen
Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal which is a new award the Province of
New Brunswick put into place in June 2022 recognizing
New Brunswick residents who have made significant contributions to the
province, a particular region, community, or field.
It was a very special ceremony to recognize a very
special person held in very high esteem by everyone who knew him and was a
beneficiary of his willingly shared knowledge and ability.
Thank you, David Christie, for being there and no
award could go to a more deserving person.
**Butterflies that migrate into New Brunswick in
the spring and out in late fall continue to be spotted.
Aldo Dorio got a great photo of an American Lady
Butterfly that posed very nicely on the Malpec Road area near Neguac on
Friday.
**Gordon Rattray and Nelson Poirier temporarily
detained a male Shadow Darner dragonfly to get photographed and released
on Friday. It very nicely shows the walking cane- shaped thoracic stripe
(arrowed).
**Nelson Poirier noted a significant amount of Red
Beard Sponge washed up among large piles of seaweed on Petit Cap the day
after Fiona.
This sponge does range from Mexico to the Maritimes
but Nelson had not taken note of it previously. It was a bright reddish orange
and quite obvious among the shoreline wrack.
**Bob Blake maintains daily weather statistics of morning temperature, daily highs, and monthly precipitation from his Second North River home.
A table of Bob’s records comparing September 2021 with September 2022 is attached.
It is notable how similar the records from these two months are.
