** John Inman had Bay-breasted Warblers feeding on crane flies and other insects in cedar trees in his Harvey yard on Friday. One of John’s photos shows crane fly legs in the warbler's mouth.
Also, on Friday, one Ruby-throated Hummingbird arrived for a quick drink and left on its journey.

** Shannon Inman had to go to work early on Saturday. On her drive there, she had to stop as she saw eyes in her headlights. As she crept forward, she made out a small skunk and 3 sets of eyes from farmyard cats. The little skunk turned and raised its tail. She watched the one cat and two others vanish, the end of the faceoff.

** Brian Stone sends some late photos from his and Nelson's trip to the Fundy Parkway Trail and Jane Leblanc’s Garden yard in St. Martins on September 07.

Many Mushrooms and some Lichen examples were plentiful. Jane's yard displayed some nice examples of Hobblebush with berries, Jack-in-the-pulpit berries, Lady's Slipper Orchid going to seed, and Witch Hazel showing its small yellow flowers and last year’s seed capsules.

In Jane's small pond, a tiny young-of-the-year Wood Frog hopped about, and Tadpoles and Salamander Larvae rested on lily pads. A female Shadow Darner Dragonfly hovered over the pond slowly enough to get its photo taken, and a large Bald-faced Hornet Nest hung menacingly overhead.

In other areas around St. Martins, Asters were the predominant flower, and Seaweed-covered rocks were noted along with Eyebright Flowers, TurtleheadCommon Groundsel, a Common Wood Nymph Butterfly, the upright cones of Balsam Fir, and a female Common Eider Duck.

More photos of the Fundy Parkway adventure to follow in a few days.
