**Shannon Inman got a quick photo of a sparrow that flew from
the edge of the road to a tree near their home in Harvey. Facial and wing markings suggest a Lark
sparrow. Weather permitting, Shannon will
try and relocate it again today for a better photo.
** Jane and Ed LeBlanc in St. Martins were treated to the Northern
Lights Sunday night. Jane gets emails to alert her when the chances are
strong of seeing them. They went to several locations and photographed them. As
the last time they saw them, they saw white pillars moving in the sky, but the
camera saw the colours.
(Editor's note: what a beautiful spectacle!)
**More Snow Buntings are moving
in. Aldo Dorio spotted a flock of 20 Snow Buntings at Hay Island on Monday.
**An interesting additional note
about the Carolina Wren that arrived at Jamie Burris’ Riverview yard on
Sunday. Jamie has a weathered birdhouse in the yard, and the Carolina Wren was
spotted going in and out checking it out.
It is also interesting to note that a
Northern Saw-whet Owl that visited Jamie’s yard last year perched on that same
box. It may not look special, but there must be something about that box that interested
these birds!
