**Jane LeBlanc in St. Martins can't figure out why the Northern Cardinals only stick around when photography conditions are horrible.... like Friday, cloudy and rainy. The first photo shows a very wet male at her feeder setup. The other two were taken on the other side of the yard when the rain let up for a while.

**Norbert Dupuis in Memramcook comments “What a busy day on Friday as 2 Northern Cardinals (female) came regularly all day… a beautiful sight with the freezing rain and snow!"

The cardinals were enjoying safflower seed, now marking their 50th day of attendance in a row.

**The Ring-billed Gull is a very common summer gull in New Brunswick; however, the majority of them will move south in winter. With the mild onset of this winter, many Ring-billed Gulls are still with us.

Maureen Girvan photographed an adult Ring-billed Gull at Pointe-du-Chene wharf on Friday. Note the yellow legs, long primary projection past the tail tip, slightly jagged black bill ring, and ‘gentler’ head appearance than some of our other larger gulls. Note also the dark streaks on the head that appear in our larger gulls in adult winter plumage except for the Great Black-backed Gull which maintains a clean white head in winter as an adult.

**Wendy Sullivan sends a composite of some of her yard patrons on Friday. Wendy comments a White-throated Sparrow and 2 American Tree Sparrows are also regulars.
