** Louise Nickols comments “A good
number of people gathered at the Tankville School on Saturday afternoon for the
Nature Moncton Workshop on Nature Apps. Many good tips were shared on
apps such as Google Lens, eBird, iNaturalist, PictureThis, and Merlin.
These apps are wonderful tools to use in the field and some (particularly eBird
and iNaturalist) are important ways to contribute data which can be used by
scientists to better understand the biodiversity of an area. Thanks to
Fred Richards, Cathy Simon and Gordon Rattray who presented the apps and
answered many questions. And thanks also to the newly formed Outings and
Workshops Committee who organized this event.”
Cathy Simon comments “Saturday's Cell Phone Nature App workshop was a
great success with 21 participants attending. Everyone was so intent on
learning about Lens, eBird, iNaturalist, and PictureThis that we all forgot to
take a photo! Thank you to Fred Richards, Cathy Simon, and Gordon Rattray for
leading the workshop. The next workshop will be held on February 19th. Stay
tuned for more details!”
