John also noticed a pair of Bald Eagles hauling marsh grass back to their
nest to shore it up making nest reparations.
**Nelson Poirier has been noticing a very dark dove among the dozen-plus Mourning Doves that are regular patrons
to his feeder yard and wondering if this was simply a variation in the species.
It sure stands out among its kin!
Nelson consulted Gilles Belliveau, and Gilles feels that this is indeed
within the realm of species variation and offers a quote from Sibley below:
“Variation is subtle,
involving overall saturation of color, but this is overshadowed by differences
between male and female, and individual variation within each subspecies,
making field identification of subspecies impossible.”
