**Jane
LeBlanc is seeing lots of warblers on her St. Martins property, including Northern
Parula and Black-throated Green Warblers.
She did a birding walk with the St. John
Naturalist club Wednesday morning at 'the rez' where they found many warblers
and many dragon and damselflies.
At home, she found a White Slant-line Moth and a Canadian Tiger Swallowtail butterfly on her lilacs.
Jane also photographed an Eastern Forktail Damselfly.
**Sherrill Owen (Jane Aikman’s sister) was sitting in
the sun on her deck in the Gatineau near Low, Quebec, Wednesday afternoon
when a Promethea Silkmoth landed on the windowsill near her and was soon
joined by (she suspected) a male!
(Editor’s
note: I have personally not seen this beautiful moth in New Brunswick and am
awaiting confirmation of its status in this province. BugGuide is showing only one report with few in Quebec but more common in northeastern US states.)
**Gordon
Rattray and Fred Richards delivered a presentation to a Scout troop in
Riverview Wednesday evening. The presentation included requirements for Scouts
trying for their First Class award. Gordon brought tree branches and
cones for identification purposes. Everyone went outside after the
presentation to put what they learned to use. The Scouts seemed to enjoy
it.
