**The Nature Moncton field trip to Kouchibouquac National Park on Saturday went off with a full load of participants under sunny skies and warm temperatures but a pleasant breeze. Much appreciation to David Mazerolle, Park ecologist, who led the group, pointing out a continual barrage of special observations with his knowledge of the park. The outing was joined by members of the New Brunswick Botany Club.

There were many photographs taken of this very special outing which will undoubtedly be shared in the days to follow. Some are available today, especially of the one big surprise, a sow Black Bear and at least one cub that was one of the unexpected highlights of the day.

**Monarch butterflies appear to be on the move in New Brunswick.

John Inman had 2 Monarch butterflies visiting his Harvey yard milkweed patch on Thursday to get nice photographs.

John photographed a Tachinid species fly showing all its bristles making it an excellent pollinator.

John also photographed a Carrion beetle which plays a crucial role in ecosystems by aiding in the decomposition of animal remains.

John's photo of a Ground Crab Spider was not loaded until late day yesterday. It is reattached today so scroll back to yesterday for text.

**Brian Stone just processed some older photos from June 13th and June 21st taken at Hampton that compare the development of young fledgling Killdeer chicks that were being overseen by a protective adult over that 9 day time period. Witnessing the chicks over that period Brian noticed they became larger, stronger, and more confident, but no less cute. (Note dates on photos.) He then had to leave Hampton and return home so was unable to follow their progress any longer.
